FAIR TRADE EGYPT PRODUCTS

Established in 1998, Fair Trade Egypt is a social enterprise dedicated to providing marketing and development services to disadvantaged Egyptian producers—ensuring sustainable income while preserving the rich heritage of Egyptian handicrafts. Fair Trade Egypt was founded to support marginalized artisans across Egypt by connecting them to local and global markets.

Fair Trade Egypt empowers over 2,000 artisans-43 artisan groups-90% women-across 13 governorates through ethical trade, sustainable production, and the preservation of traditional Egyptian handicrafts. By promoting these crafts in modern markets, Fair Trade Egypt ensures they remain economically viable and culturally relevant. Through Fair Trade principles, these artisans can sustain their livelihoods, preserve traditional techniques, and compete in modern markets.

Fair Trade Egypt currently offers over 1,400 fairly traded handcrafted products, providing artisans with: capacity building; technical assistance; product development support and access to local and international markets.

Egypt’s artistic heritage is woven into every handcrafted product. Artisans use techniques passed down through generations—ensuring that traditional weaving, embroidery, pottery, and natural fiber crafts do not disappear in the face of industrialization.
