The fragrance pyramid is a way to categorize and understand these layers of scent in a fragrance and is used by perfumers around the world. Using the analogy of a musical scale, the fragrances are divided into three categories based on how long their molecules take to evaporate.  A fragrance’s scent is composed of three layers: the top notes, the middle notes, and base notes.

 A well-rounded blend typically includes oils from all three categories:

1. Top Notes (30%): These are the first scents you’ll notice upon application. They are fresh, light, and often stimulating.
2. Middle Notes (50%): The heart of the fragrance, these oils bring balance, depth, and richness to the blend.
3. Base Notes (20%): The foundation of the blend, these oils linger longest and add grounding, depth, and longevity.

How to Create Your Own Essential Oil Blend

1. Choose Your Essential Oils

Select one oil from each of the three categories: top, middle, and base notes. This will allow you to create a layered, balanced fragrance that evolves as it settles on the skin or disperses in the air. We will add jojoba oil to your chosen essentials and Voila! A new blend is born!

These oils are fresh and uplifting, making them perfect for starting off your blend. They typically last 5-15 minutes and fade quickly. Choose a top note for an initial burst of fragrance.
